Whenever I think of the beautiful, golden summer days, I eventually end up thinking about the havoc it creates on my oily skin. As I updated my skincare stash, I found myself repurchasing some products that helped me control the damage to some extent. My skin tends to get messier, irritated and red on yellow summer days. I focus on Watery and Hydrating skin care products that rebuild the dehydrated acid mantle as I have an oily and acne prone skin.
Products with watery textures are lighter, softer and they seep into the skin better. However, they work best on Oily skin types. Keeping the needs in mind, here are my Top Skincare Picks that are appropriate for Oily and Acne Prone Skin in this blazing heat –
Plum Goodness Green Tea Revitalizing Face Mist
Face mists are quick showers for your skin! I love to use them as toners too. This face mist worked really well for my skin and if you follow me on my instagram, you’d know, I’m on my way to the third bottle. It has a very energizing and refreshing aroma which can be a little strong for people who dislike scented products. It is enriched with Aloe Leaf Juice, Green Tea Leaf Extract and Glycolic Acid.
It comes in a pumping bottle and is free from Paraben, Pthalates, SLS and animal derived ingredients. It is 100% Vegan and Cruelty Free and you get 100ml of this mist for 360INR!
It brings out a bubble of freshness with every pump and I personally adore the aroma, it is energizing. It cools and calms the skin and also helps with greasiness. Just pat it into the skin softly after spraying. You can also refrigerate it for 15-20 minutes and spray it. The chilled soothing droplets surely feel heavenly on a thirsty dehydrated skin.
I absolutely love this mist and it is a great option for Oily/ Oily Combination skin, it might tingle a little if you have broken or wounded skin. I’d recommend a patch test if you have a highly sensitive skin.
It’s Skin Tea Tree Balance Sheet Mask
A sheet mask can beat a hot summer day like a pro! It’s Skin is a Korean Brand that has a wide range of soothing sheet masks and sparkling serums. The brand caters to various skin types. The fragrance is super mild and fades within seconds. It was very soft on my active acne too and I experienced no redness or discomfort post application. The watery serum makes it perfect for an Oily Skin on a hot summer day!
It is enriched with tea tree leaf and various other extracts and leaves your skin hydrated with a subtle glow. The moisture stays on for a day. It is amazing for acne prone skin but can be a little drying for dry skin types. It also comes drenched with extra serum! You get 20ml of this mask for 100INR.

Plum Goodness Green Tea Alcohol Free Toner
I absolutely adore this brand and it has everything for every skin type out there. The green tea range is mainly for Oily and Acne Prone Skin and this toner is my second purchase. I’ve been using it for quite sometimes and I’m already stocked up on the second bottle.
The toner is, again, free from Paraben, Phthalates, SLS, DEA, PABA and animal derived ingredients. It is 100% Vegan and Cruelty free and is enriched with Green Tea and Glycolic Acid.
It smells just like the refreshing face mist and is priced at 390INR for 200ml. The toner is super hydrating and doesn’t strip the face of its natural moisture. I noticed a minor change in my texture with regular use. it refreshes and plumps the skin up within minutes and is suitable for dull Oily Skin.
Just like the face mist, I’d recommend a patch test if you have sensitive skin as it tingles a little for the first few seconds.
Innisfree Volcanic Cluster Recipe Pack
Exfoliation is really important for an Oily Skin to survive in this hellish heat as it gets rid of all the trapped dirt, sweat, sebum and the acne causing agents. Cleansing and exfoliating regularly keeps the skin clean and breathing. I focus on mild exfoliators and packs in summer, as they are lighter and do not weigh the skin down.
Innisfree Volcanic Cluster Recipe Pack is a clay based pack that snatches the dirt and excess oil from the pores and it is highly mild on the skin too. It gets rid of the greasiness and dirt making the skin squeaky clean which makes it an amazing option for Oily skin. It also improves the texture and takes care of the pores. It can be drying on normal to dry skin types. This pack comes perfectly packed and sealed and can be used at least thrice. You get 10ml of this pack for 150INR.

Laneige is a luxury Korean brand that recently stepped in India. After trying out their Lip Sleeping Mask, I decided to plunge into their sheet mask that promised immense hydration. As the name suggests, the sheet mask is packed with super berry extracts and is formulated without Paraben and Pthalate.
The sheet mask has a watery, almost fragrance free clear serum that deeply nourishes and hydrates the skin effectively. It left my skin with a subtle brightness and a beaming glow which lasted for a day. It is light and mild. I experienced no discomfort post application.
