Summer and Sunscreens: Pure Bubbles

The sweaty summer wave has already hit the coast and a lot of us are the victims of greasy, irritated, pigmented and dehydrated skin. I have always disliked summer, for hot blowing winds and the red itchy blotches that come with it! I focus on deep hydration whenever I talk about summer skincare routine. If you have acne prone and an oily skin, the best thing you can do to ensure a good health is to focus on water and water or gel based skincare products. My skin craves the cooling water and gel based textures and my CTM routine contains the same.

As this is the season of cool smoothies and mists, I keep reminding myself the value of sunscreen lotions and creams. As a teen, I skipped this stage, I tried some sunscreen lotions that left my skin with excessive oil and an ashy white cast. My likelihood of not using a sunscreen increased on a high level! The golden rays obviously made my skin even worse. Recently, I had the privilege to try a sunscreen that actually matched with my skin’s need.

I was kindly gifted a few skincare products by a handmade skincare brand from Rajasthan, Pure Bubbles. The founder introduced and encouraged me to try out their sunscreen and a clarity lotion, which they considered to be appropriate for an oily and acne prone skin like mine. I incorporated these products in my daily skincare routine and here are my views after a regular use of month and a half:

Pure Bubbles Sun & Pollution Protection with SPF15

Packaging

The sunscreen lotion came in an elegant pumping glass bottle. I’d not call it heavy, but it definitely demands attention as it is glass and not plastic and isn’t travel friendly. Most of the products from this brand come in a non plastic packaging.

Texture

The texture of the sunscreen is what caught my attention, the lotion is a white watery blend of exotic extracts and oils. One pump of the lotion just seeps into the skin within seconds leaving no trail of white patchiness. The texture is light, soft, non sticky, intensely hydrating and moisturizing.

Price and Quantity

You get 50gms of product for 490INR which expires within 18 months.

Aroma

SPF15[1]http://www.prettyoats.com

It has a sweet, herby and awakening aroma. I do not find it strong or overwhelming. It fades within minutes the moment it touches the skin.

Ingredients

The detailed ingredient list:

Water, zinc oxide, butyloctyl salicylate (ester of salicylic acid), Triceteareth 4 phosphate, Hydroxyethyl, urea, Olivem 1000, Hemp Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Soya Bean Oil, Rice Extracts, Phenoxyethanol Triethylene Glycol, Geranium Essential Oil, Rapeseed Oil, Licorice Root Extract, Althea Officinalis Root Extract, Polyglyceryl 3 Disostearate, Rice Bran Extract, Ethylhexyl methoxycrylene .

What’s Good

The sunscreen lotion is Paraben Free, Crueltyfree, Ecofriendly and claims to be made from botanical extracts.

My Experience

My Oily and Acne prone skin loved the light and non sticky texture of the sunscreen lotion. It didn’t leave any white, heavy and greasy imprint behind. My skin stayed light and free even after hours, I experienced no severe greasiness that my skin had already witnessed through past sunscreen experiments. It also made my face less sweaty to some extent. The lotion was soft and gentle on my sensitive acne prone areas, I felt no itchiness, redness or discomfort.

SunscreenReview[1]http://www.prettyoats.com

Not using a sunscreen can darken the already existing acne scars and sensitive areas which can result in deep pigmentation, discoloration and unevenness. The sunscreen took care of my acne scars in a gentle manner and my skin remained hydrated and cool. It didn’t fade them, but it protected them from darkening. This sunscreen comes with dual benefits, it also protects your skin from pollution and blue light, an ideal option for dirt collecting oily and acne prone skin. It can also work well for oily combination or normal skin types and can be a little drying for people with severely dry skin types.

How I use it

I pump a few drops after my regular CTM routine. It layers up easily on top of a moisturizer without any stickiness. As I have an Oily skin, I use water/gel based moisturizers. Recently, I have updated my skincare routine and I’ve been using a smooth clarity lotion by Pure Bubbles. The combination of these two is perfect for a hot summer day!

Here’s a quick review of the Pure Bubbles Clarity Lotion:

Pure Bubbles Clarity Face Lotion: For Acne Prone Skin

PureBubblesClarityLotion[1]http://www.prettyoats.com

Packaging

The clarity lotion comes in a cylindrical plastic pumping container and it can be termed as travel friendly, as it isn’t heavy and pretty smaller than a water bottle. It is sleek, cute and minimal.

Texture & Aroma

Again, the texture is what my skin and I loved the most. The lotion has a serum like, watery and hydrating texture, it is not runny but melts into the skin within seconds. It also has a fading, natural, leafy-herby aroma that vanishes the moment it comes in contact with the skin. It is not dramatically scented at all.

Price & Quantity

You get 50gms of product in 490INR which expires within 18 months.

Ingredients

It is smooth and hydrating blend of the following ingredients

Distilled Water, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Blackseed Oil, Olive Derivatives, Chaulmogra Seed Oil,  Potassium Lauroyl Wheat Amino Acids, Palm glycerides, Capryloyl Glycine, Southern Magnolia Bark Extract, Hydroxyethyl, Urea, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Tea Tree Essential Oil, Phenoxyethanol, European Olive Leaf Extract

My Experience

My skin loved the light feathery touch of this lotion. Non sticky, serum-like texture, that seeps right within seconds. Yass! This is it! It is not one of those crazy heavy moisturizers that weigh your skin down. A pump or two can be used under makeup too, as it is very hydrating and doesn’t clog pores. It mattifies the skin to some extent. I have noticed a sheer improvement of the texture and pores on my skin. With a regular use, it also takes care of the redness and bumpiness of the acne and leaves the skin feeling fresh and firm, however it takes time. I only noticed a soft glowing firmness for the first few days. With the experience, I can state this is not a product for an instant brightness or glow, but more like a medicine that takes its sweet time. I include it in my morning and night skincare routine to have better and faster results. It can also work for dry acne prone or irritated skin types as a serum as it is too light to be a moisturizer for such skin types.

Concluding, these two products make a fine pair to beat the summer heat and are ideal for Oily and Acne prone skin types. They really cater to the needs of an Oily skin. I’d love to know your thoughts and views, Reach me on Instgram.
