Review: Nykaa Skin Shield Anti Pollution Foundation : Oily & Acne Prone Skin

Recently, Nykaa, the Indian beauty brand reintroduced their foundation line with Skin Shield Anti Pollution Foundation. The brand also introduced darker shades with different tones. As I have an oily and problematic skin, I’m not keen about heavy full face beat as they break me out but I was highly impressed by the triple action features and the claims and here are my thoughts:

Packaging

NykaaSkinShieldFoundation[1]

The foundation comes in a tightly sealed black tube with a flip and squeeze cap. I believe, it is travel friendly as it doesn’t comes in a glass or heavy packaging. It is just a small tube that can be slipped anywhere. (It resembles NARS foundation).

Texture & Aroma

The texture of the foundation is cream based and it doesn’t have a fancy aroma. It doesn’t smells like anything to be particular and can be considered fragrance free. It blends pretty easily and has a matte and skin-like finish. It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. There is no exaggerating shimmer or glow, so you cannot expect a dewy look unless you highlight or mix it with an essential oil. It is plain and matte, perfect for oily and shiny skin type.

My Experience/ Suggestions / Review

I have an Oily and Acne Prone Skin and my shade is “Hot Honey”, which comes under the Medium Skin Tone Range. This shade has a neutral under tone and is a perfect match for my skin. The foundation is really feathery and has a medium to full coverage and can be build according to your needs and requirements. It covered my minor acne scars with one application. I also noticed a minor blurring and smoothening effect.

The application was smooth and the foundation can be blended easily, I prefer a beauty blender for a smoother and natural finish. It claims to control Oil formation on the skin and actually keeps the skin matte to some extent, however it oxidizes a little and I noticed my shiny oily skin peeking through after an hour. It definitely needs minor touchups as it also starts cracking a little through the curves of the face after a few hours. If you have large pores, it’s a good option as it doesn’t glorify the pores out. It is not drying or heavily overwhelming and I believe it is a good option for dry skin types too.

My acne prone skin was pretty comfortable and the texture isn’t heavy, I tend to apply makeup after a thorough CTM routine. A healthy skin makes your makeup even better! Overall, Nykaa Skin Shield Anti Pollution Foundation is a good option for people who seek natural skin like base. I’d love to know your thoughts.
